Oman`s Power & Energy Sector

Oman’s power and energy sector is currently undergoing a transformative journey, propelled by well-defined government policies and an unwavering commitment to sustainability, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global efforts to combat climate change.

In 2022, Oman achieved a significant milestone in electric energy production, with a gross output of 41.8 TWh and a net production of 40.4 TWh. Particularly noteworthy is the remarkable 138%
year-on-year surge in electric energy production from solar sources, demonstrating Oman’s steadfast dedication to clean and renewable energy.

The Omani government has put in place comprehensive policies and regulatory frameworks to stimulate investment and innovation in the energy sector, fostering private sector participation and creating a competitive energy market leading to a number of business opportunities for domestic and foreign investments worth billions of dollars in the coming years. Oman’s National Energy Strategy is firmly committed to an energy transition that encompasses diversifying the energy mix, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, increasing the share of renewable energy sources, and enhancing overall energy efficiency. This strategy is intricately woven into global efforts to mitigate climate change and create a sustainable energy future.

The Event

In the rapidly evolving power and energy sector, knowledge remains the cornerstone of a robust, dependable, and sustainable enterprise. IEEE PowerTalks 2024 stands as the premier event for power and energy experts, facilitating a distinctive convergence of Omani professionals, budding talents, and global industry experts. This prestigious annual gathering, in its third edition, is set to spotlight cutting-edge innovations and technological strides in the power and energy arena.

Attendees can look forward to comprehensive plenary discussions, in-depth technical workshops, and an exhibition featuring the newest breakthroughs in power generation, transmission, and distribution.
